We reunite children in orphanages with their families, and find loving foster parents for children who cannot return home.
Suubi’s Story
Suubi was just a baby when he was abandoned He was so severely malnourished that he was unable to sit up or open his eyes.
He had to spend three months in the hospital, where he received lifesaving medical care, and gained weight and strength.
He was supposed to be discharged to an orphanage, where he would have spent his days in silence, in a baby room.
Instead, our social work team intervened, and matched him with a loving foster family.
Today, Suubi is thriving.
He has a mother, father and four big siblings, who love to pay with their little brother. And he adores his foster father, and is always by his side.
Naomi’s Story - Reunification
When Naomi was a toddler, her parents died.
Her aunt and uncle, who were very poor, thought the best place for Naomi was a local orphanage that could provide her an education and medical care.
However, the orphanage where Naomi stayed was not a happy place.
They fed her one meal a day, and would often beat the children. They often kept her from her aunt and uncle, when they tried to visit.
Working with a partner organization, we worked to free Naomi from the institution, so she could live with her aunt and uncle, and three cousins.
We helped her aunt and uncle to build a latrine, start a family business and join a Microfinance group in their village.
Naomi is happy to be home. She loves to help her aunt with the chores, and adores her little cousins.
We continue to support Naomi and her family with regular social work visits, medical care and school fees so that Naomi can have a secure future with her family.
Supporting Children in Families
The children we work with are vulnerable for many reasons. Many are struggling with poverty, disability or family crisis. We support them with social services, such as education, medical care and counselling.
